He swims for life.

It's said that things appear larger underwater. In the liquid realm, I am in my power. Here the virus that floats through my system becomes practically undetectable.

Emerging from the locker room or stepping onto the sand, my condition is bigger than life, palpable and sometimes… downright icy.

As I slip into the water and become fully enveloped, things begin to reverse. The rhythm of my breathing and synchronization of arms and legs, soon I'm transported away from the virus to which I've been tethered since 1986.

A few days a week, like I've done for more than 20 years, I partake in some water wellness. While swimming, I'm alone with my condition, and it's there that I'm in charge.
